Spring fed water holes within the conservancy, attract a variety of plains game as well as a good number of Elephant families and large Tuskers. The Elephants can be viewed and photographed easily due to the flat terrain of the seasonal lakebed that they frequently must cross to access the lush papyrus swamps for food and water. They are also considered to be amongst the largest elephants in East Africa. Amboseli, is probably most famous for being the one place in Africa where you can photograph these giant pachyderms against the unique backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa and the tallest free-standing mountain in the world. Your dinner and overnight will be at Ol Tukai Lodge (Full Board)

Using Tawi lodge as your base, you get to enjoy two full day game drive experiences in the Kimana sanctuary. This sanctuary is a crucial corridor that links Amboseli National Park to the west with Chyulu Hills and Tsavo West National Park to the east and is the seasonal migratory path for herds of elephants and other plains game, moving back and forth between the two locations.
With Mt. Kilimanjaro to the south and Chyulu Hills to the northeast, the sunrises and sunsets will present you with spectacular scenes to photograph. Other animals popularly seen in the area include Thompson’s and Grant’s gazelles, zebra, eland and a thriving population of warthogs not to mention the occasional lion and cheetah. At sunset, you will retire for dinner and overnight a Tawi Lodge (Game Package)

The Conservancy hosts animals such as, Elephant, Lions, Leopard, Cheetahs, Wildebeest, Zebra, Fringe eared Oryx and Eland. The area is home to a striking diversity of some very picturesque landscapes. Mbiriakani Conservancy is managed by the “Big Life Foundation,” who are primarily responsible for mitigating human wildlife conflict within the local surrounding communities that frequently suffer from losses in livestock and crops by animals such as Lions and Elephants.
The foundation has set up a very interesting program to help conserve the lion population within the Amboseli Tsavo ecosystem and carefully monitors both the lion and elephant populations in the area. At the lodge, there is a waterhole out in front which has a hide that has been built in a way that it affords one some great opportunities to get close to, and photograph some of the big bull Tusker Elephants that frequent the area.
