Solio is a 19,000-acre wildlife conservancy surrounded by a 45,000-acre ranch that is nestled in a valley below the Aberdare Mountain Range within the expansive Laikipia ecosystem. The conservancy is made up of a tapestry of large acacia forests, swamps, and open savannah grasslands. It is internationally recognized as the most successful private rhino breeding reserve in Kenya.
The wildlife experience in this reserve is both varied and prolific and visitors will find that sightings of up to 40 rhinoceros at a time are not uncommon. Both Black and White Rhinos are seen here in abundance attracting filmmakers and photographers who come from all over the world to film and photograph these rare and endangered animals.
