Day 3 – 8: At Ol Kinyei & Naboisho Conservancies

Ol Kinyei Conservancy is an 18,700 acre privately managed wildlife conservancy located east of Naboisho Conservancy. With only two small safari camps in the entire conservancy. Ol Kinyei will give you the ultimate feeling of exclusivity as you enjoy your morning, afternoon and evening game drives in this conservancy.

This spectacular scenery of the conservancy is an extension of the Serengeti-Mara savannah dotted with an endless array of rolling hills and rocky outcrops and a constant supply of water from the numerous rivers, streams and natural springs that attract thirsty animals at different times of the day and especially in the drier seasons.

Ol Kinyei is home to a variety of animals including two resident prides of lions, several leopard territories mostly sighted in the late evenings or early mornings, one of the highest densities of cheetahs, large numbers of giraffes, cape buffaloes, elephants, gazelles among others.

The Loita Wildebeest migration is a common sight, especially at the beginning of the year, as wildebeest and Zebras migrate from the Loita Hills and pass through Ol Kinyei Conservancy on their way to Naboisho and Olare Motorogi Conservancies. February/March is also when the wildebeest give birth to their calves and Ol Kinyei and the surrounding conservancies have over the last 5 years become the “new” birthing grounds for the wildebeest herds.

Naboisho Conservancy, where you will have daily game drive access to, is a private conservancy located in the Maasai Mara ecosystem bordering on to the Ol Kinyei Conservancy and boasts a very high density of lions with an estimated 100 lions being resident inside the conservancy or frequenting there.

The conservancy is also home to herds of gazelles, giraffes and other grazers that complete the food chain for the lions. The conservancy serves as very important ecological migratory corridor for the annual Loita wildebeest and zebra migration. Being a private conservancy with only a few camps and lodges makes the conservancy one of the few places you can enjoy the Mara ecosystem with a touch of exclusivity, quite like Ol Kinyei, where only a limited number of visitors allowed in the conservancy and strict conservation measures adhered to.

Porini Cheetah Camp is one of the only two permanent camps located in Ol Kinyei Conservancy. The camp has six spacious en-suite guest tents that come equipped with bathrooms, hot showers, flush toilets and a water tap. Wi-Fi is available in the public areas and the entire camp is fully powered by solar energy. The unfenced design of the camp ensures that your stay will maximize your wildlife experience. The camp is located close to the Olare Lemunyi watercourse, between the White Rock feature on the one hand and a marsh fed by a permanent underground spring that is a magnet for the antelopes and zebras, especially in the dry season as well as the cats that prey on them. The White Rock is an excellent location for sun downers because of the view from the top.

Your game drives will be done in specially modified safari vehicles with an adjustable platform for placing your camera as you do your photography. You will spend the next six days doing day and night game drives in these two conservancies. Your meals and overnights will by catered by Porini Cheetah Camp (Game Package)

Day 9: Ol Kinyei – Nairobi

You will spend this morning doing game drives in the conservancy and the early afternoon relaxing in the camp and after lunch you will be transferred to Ol Seki Airstrip for your scheduled flight to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport where on arrival you will be received transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight home
